Certain beats are better deep roasted, percolated to a perfect bubbling funk concoction. Enter Debian Blak and his debut for First World Records, A Hint of Menace. The Leeds producer makes it wobbly, if not quite wonky. Those in the know know, you know? Not crate reliant, Blak relies on his own impeccable work behind the boards, dragging the deep end out of synths and drum machines. Before monotony even has a chance to come into consideration, the maestro flips the script ever so slightly, adding vocal chops to an already impressive brew. And with a price tag of free, that’s the best mug of dirty beats you’re going to get all day (no joe, yo).
