BBNG2 by BADBADNOTGOOD

While some of our favorite beats are jazz infused, today we’re flipping the script to highlight jazz musicians taking on beat music.  The Roots to Tyler the Creator’s Jimmy Kimmel, BADBADNOTGOOD is a jazz trio that is taking instrumental beats in a new, literal direction.  Trust me, this is not your Grandpa’s jazz, either, as it is deeply enmeshed in hip-hop and electronic sensibilities.  (Not that there’s anything wrong with your Grandpa’s jazz, you ill informed boob, but that’s another conversation entirely.)  Don’t believe me?  Check out some of their cover catalog:  J. Dilla, DOOM, Gucci Mane, Feist by way of James Blake…it’s like a who’s who of underground goodness.  Not bad for three white kids out of Toronto who play live instruments as opposed to computer keyboards.  BBNG2 is their latest offering, and the boys have this to say about it: “No one above the age of 21 was involved in the making of this album. This album was recorded in one 10 hour session. Thanks to our friends, family, loved ones and anyone who fucks with us.”
