Funk the World – Mix 01 by Fort Knox Five

by oddbodkins on January 10, 2012

Much to my chagrin, DC does not have the thriving beat scene of, say, L.A.  We’re making pretty good strides ’round these parts, however, with a killer club in U Street Music Hall and big and/or growing names in Thievery Corp. and my personal local faves, Fort Knox Five.  To thank everyone for a very successful 2011, the latter collective has launched a monthly mix program, “Funk the World.”  This new mix series will showcase the modern global sounds of our Nation’s Capital and beyond. Let me tell you, the first one out of the box is a beast.  While the full mixtape is enough to keep you grooving into the wee hours, the “Jeepers Creepers” into “Puttin’ on the Ritz” tracks alone are more than worth the price of admission.

Tracklisting:
The Sweet Life Society – Bam Bam
Louis Armstrong – Jeepers Creepers (Fort Knox Five Remix)
