Homage – A Collage Of Hypnotic Brass Ensemble & Phil Cohran by DJ Expo

by oddbodkins on February 27, 2012

i don’t know about you, but i’m dragging a bit today.  When this problem occurs, the solution is simple–i need some brass.  DJ Expo scratches this itch on the latest ArtDontSleep podcast, featuring the works of the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, a funky brass and percussion band of eight actual brothers from Chicago (plus one non-family member; nepotism is a bitch), headed by none other than their Pops, Phil Cohran, formerly of Sun Ra’s Arkestra.  The just-over-half-an-hour journey is replete with funk, Nawlins jazz and even a bit of marching band goodness, along with heavy doses of wisdom from Cohran himself.
