Influences Mix Vol. 3

Ready to get your jazz mixtape groove on?  Of course, you are.  Who isn’t?  Nobody.  Not even your grandfather.

As a preparation exercise for the debut of their debut on Wah Wah 45s, the funkalicious Colman Brothers started an Influences Mix series, “a mix of tracks that they love and that have been an influence on them and their music.”  As the boys gear up for a supporting gig with Quantic & His Combo Barbaro in London, they’ve decided to drop the third in the series, the second by Brother Mat.  Quite frankly, it might be the best one yet, with jams by Quincy Jones, Herbaliser and assorted other jazz greats.

1. ‘Side Pocket’ – Quincy Jones
2. ‘The Thief’ – Roy Budd
3. ‘I’ll Never Forget You’ – Eddie Cano
4. ‘Yesterdays’ – The Dudley Moore Trio
5. ‘Something Wicked This Way Comes (Bossa Remix)’ – Herbaliser
6. ‘Cara Bruja’ – Kenny Clarke / Francy Boland Big Band
7. ‘Spooky’ – Stanley Turrentine
8. ‘Peanut Vendor’ – Clark Terry & Chico O’ Farrell
9. ‘People Make The World Go Round’ – Freddie Hubbard
