Look, i like my beats jazzed up, funked down and blunted and my Mecca between 82 and 84. For this, i make no bones or apologies. Sure, i shared my love of Mecca:83’s The Life Sketches EP a few months back, but the daffy beat bastard from Manchester apparently decided that wasn’t enough for the masses, so he’s recently hit us up with the extended Life Sketches Volumes 1 & 2. And if that enough STILL wasn’t enough, he threw out another “thank you for listening” track on top of that featuring the talents of Tokyo-based producer/pianist Kan Sano and Pittsburgh’s finest beat technician, Buscrates 16-Bit Ensemble. While LSV1&2 technically counts as Mecca’s FreeForm Records debut, you know i’ve been following and loving this cat for more than a minute before this. If you’re not in the same boat, now would be the perfect time.
