In my continuing effort to bring you beats from the farthest reaches, today i bring to you the self-titled debut of maundrie fox from South Korea. Well, sort of. No, i’m bringing you the CD review one way or the other, but MF actually comes from South Korea by way of Pennsylvania. However, he does belong to the Super Color Super collective, a promotion/booking/art organization with a DIY tour circuit among several Korean cities, run by dedicated fans and musicians. Close enough for government work, right? Regardless of city of origin, however, MF creates laid back grooves consisting of short, choppy cuts and samples that somehow coalesce into a mellow waterfall of down tempo deliciousness. Maybe it’s the kimchi.
