Mixmaster of the mash-up, DJ Z-Trip, unleashed a monster of a Beastie Boys mixtape, featuring pretty much every phase of their existence, from their earliest punk days to material from the latest, interspersed with radio interviews and all sorts of audio goodness.
While my love for Quantic tends to focus on his earlier solo stuff, he clearly is control spinning dusties, too, as evidenced by his foray into traditional Ethiopian music on this mixtape. It’s nice to see folks branching out from standard James Brown samples. Recreational drugs often also are nice. i’m just saying.
Great, motherfucker, all sorts of interesting stuff, but where’s the beats?!?!?! (Note to self: i’m totally using that for a future post title). How about a little something something from one of the few females out there tearing up the game? Here’s Ikonika’s summer mix, featuring tracks by Bok Bok, Debbie Deb, and the lady herself, amongst others.
