Ta-Ku / Pavel Dovgal: Finest Ego | Faces 12″ Series Vol. 1 Review

Perhaps taking a cue from the always impressive LA Series, Finest Ego has paired with Project: Mooncircle to create a new on-going series, called Faces, pairing two beat producers.  Or maybe they watch a lot Reeses Peanut Butter Cup commercials.  Bottom line, at least on their first one, we’ve got two great tastes that taste great together.

For their first out of the box, Pavel Dovgal is paired with Ta-Ku.  Dovgal is no stranger to this corner of the Interwebs, though you’ll be glad to hear his sound continues to grow with each new release.  His palette is opening up, giving his beats more room to breathe and evolve, giving them a somewhat organic edge.  Ta-Ku is a completely different beast, creating more robotic, synthesized beats.  The two play nicely off of one another.  While both go in slightly different directions, they obviously have no compunction about nailing a groove.
