Wax Poetics Presents: Dam-Funk Spins Prince

by oddbodkins on February 17, 2012

Watch your steps, kids, because i’m about to drop a lot of names.

A few weeks back, i’m hanging out at the Echoplex in LA at the Danny Brown show with Jeff from Passion of the Weiss, Nocando and Open Mike Eagle.  Way too many drinks were consumed, but as the night wore on, i was introduced to Dam-Funk and his lady friend.   (Incidentally, i also saw Har Mar Superstar, but only recognized him from his uncredited role in Held Up; sorry about that drunken and odd handshake, guy).  As i’m wont to do when i’ve imbibed a few, i offered my real day job PR services for free to damn near everyone there, explaining we could worry about payment once they each went platinum.  Had i known Dam-Funk was working on a Prince mixtape at the time, i’d have offered my sister’s phone number, too (sorry, Mecca:83).  One of these days, my sister is going to kick my ass, but DF actually has a couple of gems not in my collection on this one, and, suffice to say, i have DEEP Prince crates.  If that’s not worth pimping your sister, i don’t know what is.  Wax Poetics commissioned the mix for their 50th issue dedicated to His Royal Badness.  Dam-Funk AND Prince?  Getting posted here is A-U-T-O-matic.  Oh, and those free PR services are still available, gents.
